This is the Core Drive where people are driven by a sense of growth towards a goal and accomplishing it. It differs from Core Drive 1 by being wholly internal. This is the CD that binds most strongly to the "one more turn" phenomenon, at least in the short term. In the long-term, the layering of motives and the associated cultivated distraction may lead to a vulnerability and binding to the Black Hat avoidance and other areas. Be that as it may, it's the most common form of gamification in the market, with points, project bars, badges and scores everywhere.
The key to this core drive is granting the user access to something that gives them a sense of accomplishment. This requires that the challenge be modulated to their compentence and other circumstances.
The core question becomes: what do they want/need, and what can they do just well enough to enjoy being successful?
