A dedicated Git repository has been configured for Erin's application code. The source code is maintained on the Data Repository Server and synchronized to a centralized Git repository hosted on the Code Repository Server. This configuration provides version control, source code backup, change tracking, and centralized storage.
The Data Repository Server contains Erin's working copy of the application source code. This is where development activities occur, including:
All Git commands are executed by Erin from the application source code directory:
git add .
git commit -m "Description of changes"
git push
The application source code remains on the Data Repository Server while Git maintains synchronization with the remote repository.
code-repository-server-001
10.46.0.12
The application's bare Git repository is stored at:
/srv/git/edepree-app.git
This repository serves as the central source control repository and stores all committed versions of the application.
Owner: root
Group: git
The repository is configured to allow members of the git group to access and maintain the repository:
drwxrwsr-x
The setgid bit is enabled to ensure that newly created files and directories inherit the git group automatically.
edepree
Erin's Linux account has been configured on the Code Repository Server and granted access to the repository.
Git operations are performed using SSH key authentication.
edepree
edepree@10.46.0.12:/srv/git/edepree-app.git
The public key from Erin's Data Repository Server account has been added to:
/home/edepree/.ssh/authorized_keys
on the Code Repository Server.
This allows Git push and pull operations without requiring a password.
Git safe-directory protection was configured for Erin's repository:
git config --global --add safe.directory /srv/git/edepree-app.git
This prevents Git ownership validation errors when accessing the bare repository.
git remote add origin edepree@10.46.0.12:/srv/git/edepree-app.git
git branch -M main
git push -u origin main
git pull
git add .
git commit -m "Description of changes"
git push
The application repository is fully operational and configured to allow Erin to:
The repository is successfully synchronized between the Data Repository Server and the Code Repository Server and is ready for ongoing development.
